BERWICK, N.S., DECEMBER 6, 2016
On December 6, the Annapolis Valley Chamber of Commerce held its quarterly membership meeting over a luncheon in Berwick. In addition to bringing the membership up-to-date on the activities of the chamber, three guest speakers provided their perspectives on the Annapolis Valley economy and how their organizations are working to increase economic activity.
Kelly Ells, CEO of the Valley Regional Enterprise Network spoke about their strategic plan’s sector focuses and the initiatives they have underway to assist in developing key sectors. Peter MacAskill, Chief Operating Officer of Nova Scotia Business Inc. spoke about the export focus of that organization and the many programs available to assist businesses in entering new markets. Paul DesBarres, President of the Annapolis Valley Chamber of Commerce spoke about the various ways AVCC supports and promotes local business and how the structure of economic development in the Valley needs to be designed for better collaboration and coordination among communities for long-term, sustainable planning at the strategic level.
The Annapolis Valley Chamber of Commerce represents nearly 400 businesses and their employees, from Hantsport to Lawrencetown.
